Singapore-based Coda Payments acquired BAASH to extend gaming goods and services

Coda Payments, a Singapore-based supplier of cross-border payments and digital content distribution solutions, has acquired BAASH, a mobile e-sports competition platform.

The specifics of the deal are being kept under wraps.

Coda’s existing gaming items and solutions will be expanded as a result of the purchase. Codashop, a digital game content store, and Codashop Global Series (CGS), a free-for-all community e-sports competition, are among them.

Coda hopes to develop and better serve gamers who wish to compete in CGS e-sports competitions as a result of the BAASH agreement. CGS is active in 17 worldwide markets and has attracted over 100,000 new users in the last year.

Coda also plans to improve the BAASH platform and integrate the service into its product range, with more specifics to come.

“This acquisition is an expression of our commitment to offering the best value, experience, and entertainment to our customers, every day, without fail,” Philippe Limes, CEO, Coda Payments.

Since its inception in 2011, Coda has helped gaming and entertainment digital content providers monetize their products and services in over 45 countries. It is supported by Apis Partners, a London-based private equity asset manager, as well as GMO Global Payment Vehicle, a Southeast Asia and payment-focused investment fund.

The firm also offers Codapay (a cross-border payments engine) and xShop (a game content distribution network).

Publishers of games such as Moonton (Mobile Legends: Bang Bang), Garena (Free Fire), and Tencent (PUBG Mobile), as well as streaming platforms like beIN and Bigo Live, apps like Tinder, and video-on-demand platforms, have integrated with Coda to attract customers and accept payments, according to a press release.

Claims in the conclusion Codashop is a reliable supplier of games and in-game currency, with over 250 secure payment methods and over 90 million monthly visits.

The site also claims to offer a “seamless purchasing experience,” with no need to register or log in and the ability to quickly add game credits or in-game currency to users’ accounts.

BAASH, which was founded in 2016 and is owned by Hong Kong-based CAPSL Entertainment, allows players to host e-sports events, engage in contests, and connect with other gamers.

Despite the COVID-19 problem, e-sports in Asia produced US$543.8 million in income in 2020, a 4.9 percent rise over 2019, and is expected to expand even faster this year, according to the “Asia Esports Market Report 2021” research.
