25 startups in Surat to have funding platform from ‘TiECon Surat 2022’
After the Surat branch of The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiEinaugural)’s two-day annual flagship event, “TiECon Surat 2022,” concludes, 25 companies will have the chance to discuss investment options with top angel investors and venture capitalists from all across the nation. The topic of the TiECon Surat 2022 was “Empowering Futurepreneurs”. By giving them a forum to hear from and network with business experts and investors, TiE Surat has taken the initiative to encourage and develop young Indian entrepreneurs.
During the opening ceremony, attendees had interesting discussions with B. J. Arun, Chairman of TiE Global, Mahavir Pratap Sharma, Chair of TiE India Angels, and six TiE Presidents from across India during a panel discussion about how TiE is significantly changing their ecosystem. According to B. J. Arun, TiE has supported 25,000 startups through a variety of programmes & initiatives over the past 30 years. Mahavir Pratap Sharma provided additional details on the way startup investment is becoming a significant asset class. Padma Shri Savjibhai Dholakia spoke about his entrepreneurial journey, which began with him starting out with just $12 in his pocket and ended with him running a company with an annual turnover of more than $12,000 crore.
Additionally, he talked about his expertise in assisting new businesses and creative concepts with significant positive social and environmental impacts.
TiE is a worldwide non-profit organisation that was founded in Silicon Valley, USA, in 1992 with the primary purpose of promoting entrepreneurship via mentorship, incubation, networking, and investment. With around 58 chapters, more than 3,000 charter members, and more than 15,000 members globally, TiE focuses on fostering and creating futurepreneurs.

In addition to 25 chosen startups pitching their business plans in front of 100 investors, TiECon Surat featured more than 10 seminars on subjects like “Startup as an Investment Class,” “Women in Startup Ecosystem,” “What VCs Want,” etc. Through a panel discussion on “TechPreneurs of Surat,” TiECon also demonstrated how the IT sector has developed in Surat over the past 20 years. A special focus was placed on Surat’s non-textile and non-diamond value creators who have left a lasting impression on the national and international stages in a variety of industries, including pharmaceuticals and chemicals, medical equipment, solar manufacturing, engineering, waste management, packaged foods, etc.
