O-Farms programme selected ten Kenyan agri-circularity startups
For the second iteration of the O-Farms accelerator programme, ten agri-circularity entrepreneurs from Kenya have been chosen. Two peer-selected businesses will receive grant financing depending on milestones of up to EUR25,000 (US $24,000).
O-Farms was established in 2021 as Africa’s first agri-circularity-focused accelerator programme, led by Bopinc and Village Capital, and carried out by E4Impact Accelerator. Its objective is to mainstream circularity as a strategy for bettering rural lives and sustainability.
Selected businesses will have access to grant financing of up to EUR25,000 (US $24,000) as well as a customised circularity curriculum that will help them identify their circular solutions, enhance their business models, and access these resources.
The selected businesses represent important agri-circularity industry sub-segments, such as biofuels, compostable packaging, animal feeds, fertiliser, and human food. The names of these companies are Agribusiness Solutions, EcoRich Solutions, Janabichi Agri Solutions, Korogocho Market Traders, Sbike Ltd, Organic Fields, Soil Doctors, Stawi Seeds, Vermitech Consultants, and Yummy Pot.
“As E4Impact our aim is to support SMEs to refine their innovations, strengthen their business models, access financing opportunities and create a founding community advocating for better adoption of a circular economy and supportive policies and legislation. We are looking forward to receiving the second cohort of agri-circularity SMEs as we strive towards cementing Kenya as an agricultural hub in Africa,” said David Cheboryot, director of the E4Impact Entrepreneurship Centres.
