Philippines’ first APAC services partner Thinking Machines receives funding from Singapore’s Temus
Thinking Machines Data Science, a Manila-based AI and data startup and OpenAI’s first official services partner in Asia Pacific, has received a strategic investment from Temus, a Singapore-based AI and digital transformation firm launched by Temasek in 2021.
Temus said the collaboration can assist businesses throughout Southeast Asia in transitioning from AI experimentation to production deployment in a statement released on Thursday without providing financial details. Temus’ enterprise transformation strengths in cloud and application engineering, consulting, and design can be combined with Thinking Machines’ expertise in data platforms, AI deployment, and OpenAI-enabled services.
Temus supports Singapore’s Smart Nation and National AI Strategy priorities while collaborating with public and private sector organizations in the fields of healthcare, finance, education, and government.
Founded by Stephanie Sy in 2015, Thinking Machines has taught over 10,000 people in AI, served over 110 clients, and put hundreds of AI systems into production in the financial services, retail, corporate, and public sectors. It has offices in Bangkok, Singapore, and Manila. Sy will remain CEO of Thinking Machines and take on the role of Managing Director of Applied AI and Data at Temus after the investment.
According to Temus CEO Sng Ren Yeong, Thinking Machines offers the deep engineering, governance, and integration capabilities required to operate AI systems in real-world scenarios with limited data, complicated workflows, and regulatory restrictions. The executive stated that the investment can increase the use of AI.
