Google accepting applications for its Startups Accelerator program in South Africa

The Google for Startups Accelerator is now accepting applications: South Africa, a three-month initiative that provides equity-free capital, technical coaching, and access to Google’s cutting-edge AI technology to fifteen growth-stage, AI-driven South African firms.

The initiative is a component of Google’s 2024–2028 goal to assist 50 South African companies. Up to ZAR1 million (US$60,000) in equity-free cash will be given to each chosen startup, enabling the founders to keep complete ownership of their company while utilizing the funds to spur expansion.

Additionally, they will have direct access to Google’s AI tools, cloud infrastructure, and models, including practical access to Gemini, which will help them improve their technical capabilities and fortify their businesses.

The program focuses on historically disadvantaged person (HDP)-owned or operated firms in South Africa that are developing useful, AI-driven solutions for regional market demands. During the hybrid program, which runs from September 28 to December 4, founders will work one-on-one with mentors and AI experts to address operational, data, and product concerns.

Product roadmapping, growth strategy, and goal-setting are all covered in the program, which also links founders to Google’s global Accelerator community and a network of over 25 local alumni.

“African startups are well placed to build products and services that address the continent’s most pressing challenges, from health and agriculture to logistics and education. This programme helps those solutions scale, responsibly and inclusively, so African-led companies can compete and lead on the global stage.”
