Bangalore Watch Company raises $1.4 M Seed funding from customers, family office, HNIs

Bangalore Watch Company (BWC), an Indian luxury watchmaking brand, has secured $1.4 million through a seed funding round backed by a group of its customers. The investor pool includes family office principals and high-net-worth individuals from both India and international markets.

The new investment will support the brand’s efforts to deepen its footprint in the independent global watchmaking industry. BWC is looking to establish a presence in two to three overseas markets where strong watch-collector communities already exist. It is also considering adding another location within India.

Nirupesh Joshi and Mercy Amalraj launched BWC in 2018 with a focus on creating mechanical timepieces in India for both domestic and international customers. The brand now ships its watches to more than 30 countries, with collections inspired by subjects including aviation, space, cricket and outdoor pursuits, while drawing on contemporary Indian narratives.

For now, BWC operates a single flagship store in Bengaluru, offering watches in the Rs 1.5 lakh-Rs 3 lakh price bracket. Its current manufacturing capacity stands at approximately 1,500 watches a year. Over the next three to five years, the company intends to raise production capacity to nearly four times its present level.

Innovation in materials has also been a key part of BWC’s product development. The company has incorporated recovered fighter-aircraft aluminium and materials from aircraft carriers into some of its watch designs.

Beyond these experiments, BWC has created its proprietary Cerasteel material and produced a timepiece that met the requirements for spaceflight. The company has also showcased its work at Dubai Watch Week 2025 and Geneva Watch Days 2026. Its watches have additionally been listed for the GPHG Awards on three separate occasions.
