Fruit export biz of Freshtrop Fruits acquired by DeHaat

All-inclusive agritech market Freshtrop Fruits Limited, based in Ahmedabad, has entered into a business transfer agreement (BTA) with DeHaat in order to acquire the latter’s labour force, grading, packing, and precooling centers, as well as its export network.

According to a press release from the company, the partnership aims to enhance the Indian fruit value chain by means of improved technology transfer, deeper farmer engagement, and enhanced infrastructure.

For more than 25 years, Freshtrop Fruits, founded by Ashok Motiani and his family, has been exporting grapes and other fruits, such as mangos and pomegranates, from India to supermarket chains in the UK, the EU, and other nations.

Freshtrop Fruits was founded and has been running two pack house locations in Maharashtra. Beginning with the forthcoming grape harvest season, the cooperation with DeHaat will be put into practice.

DeHaat is an online platform that provides high-quality agricultural inputs, loans, market connections, and advice to farmers looking to sell their produce.

As of March 31, 2023, more than 10,000 DeHaat franchise locations served 1.5 million farmers in 100,000 villages, according to the company, which said it had expanded its presence across 11 states.

Compared to FY22, DeHaat’s gross revenue increased by 54.2% to Rs 1,965 crore in FY23, as per its annual financial statements filed with the Registrar of Companies (RoC). Ninety-eight percent of the total income came from the sales of agricultural products.

Previous purchases made by DeHaat include YCook, FarmGuide, Vezamart, and Helicrofter.
