BeyondSeed led Rs 1.5 Cr Seed funding raised by recycled clothing manufacturer UNIREC

The Singapore-based company BeyondSeed led a seed round that brought in $190,000 (approximately Rs 1.5 crore) for the recycled clothing manufacturer UNIREC.

According to a press release from UNIREC, the company intends to use the money to increase its market share and step up its research and development efforts to produce novel, environmentally friendly textiles.

UNIREC is a sustainable clothing brand that was founded in 2021 by Kapil Bhatia. The clothing is made from recycled PET bottles. By guaranteeing zero impact on the environment and zero defects in the products produced, the brand seeks to create a sustainable world. Formal jackets, sleeveless jackets, pants, shirts, and t-shirts are among its product offerings.

UNIREC presently sells products on online retailers such as Amazon and Flipkart.

The Mumbai-based business claims that every garment made by UNIREC helps recycle 10 plastic bottles on average. More than 25,000 clothes made from recycled PET bottles have been sold in the last 18 months. The company says it has recycled 300,000 PET bottles, cut carbon emissions by over 100 tonnes, and recycled 6000 kg of plastic bottles.
