Airbnb Community Fund donates $150K to the African hub network AfriLabs

The Airbnb Community Fund has donated US $150,000 to AfriLabs, a pan-African network of innovation and technology hubs.

By connecting technology hubs, startups, investors, and other important ecosystem players, AfriLabs is a network organization dedicated to promoting innovation and entrepreneurship on the continent. There are over 500 members.

In contrast, the Airbnb Community Fund was established in 2020 with the goal of allocating $100 million by the end of 2030 to support local communities worldwide. In order to find and support causes that are having an impact in fields like environmental sustainability, economic empowerment, mental health, and putting an end to abuse and exploitation, it collaborates closely with stakeholders, including Airbnb hosts.

The Airbnb Community Fund’s unrestricted US $150,000 donation gives AfriLabs the freedom to direct resources where they are most needed, guaranteeing the organization’s capacity to continue adapting to new challenges, encouraging teamwork, and growing its programs to assist more than 500 innovation hubs and thousands of entrepreneurs in 53 African nations.

“This generous donation from the Airbnb Community Fund is a testament to the power of collaboration and shared vision. With this funding, we can deepen our efforts to support innovation hubs that nurture entrepreneurs, accelerate solutions to pressing challenges, and drive sustainable impact across communities. Together, we are shaping an inclusive and innovative future for Africa,” said Anna Ekeledo, executive director of AfriLabs.
