Bluehill VC led Rs 10.2 Cr Seed funding raised by Makr Microsystems

Makr Microsystems, a semiconductor metrology business based in Bengaluru, has raised Rs 10.2 crore in a seed round headed by frontier-tech venture capital firm Bluehill VC, with Artha Venture Fund participating.

Makr, a company founded by Ashwin Lal, is creating nanoscale 3D subsurface metrology technology that enables chipmakers to view and quantify hidden structures and flaws beneath semiconductor surfaces without causing damage to the chip.

Its technology integrates optical tomography, 3D data analytics, and Acoustic Atomic Force Microscopy (AAFM).

The money raised will go toward commercialization, customer validation, and technical development. Advanced packaging, hybrid bonding, hidden interfaces, chiplet interconnects, and defect detection are some of its early uses.

Makr, according to Bluehill VC, aligns with its mission of supporting deeptech firms that tackle challenging issues in vital technological sectors. At Rs 400 crore, the fund just closed its first fund.

As chip layouts become more complicated and more manufacturing processes shift into three-dimensional structures, Makr intends to develop globally important semiconductor technology and equipment from India.
