ComfortDelGro’s Zig invests over $8 M in BYD’s new electric and hybrid PHVs

Zig by ComfortDelGro (Zig, 劲) declared on Thursday that it is spending more than S$10 million ($7.87 million) in its fleet of Private Hire Vehicles (PHVs) with a variety of BYD electric and hybrid vehicles provided by Vantage Automotive.

According to a statement from Zig, this investment expands the company’s fleet of PHVs, boosting driver choice, service accessibility, and its overall transition to a hybrid taxi and private hire model.

According to the statement, this is in line with the company’s plan to convert its point-to-point business from a taxi-led operator to a hybrid fleet and platform model.

Zig stated that it is enhancing service availability on the Zig app and adjusting its fleet composition to satisfy hirer preferences in response to the growing demand for PHVs among professional drivers.

A combination of totally electric and hybrid models, such as the BYD SEAL 6 DM-i and BYD M6, will make up the new cars.

This helps Zig’s attempts to electrify and replace its fleet.

Additionally, hires will benefit from maintenance assistance from ComfortDelGro Engineering’s network of automotive service workshops around Singapore and special charging prices through sister business CDG Energy, which runs one of Singapore’s biggest charging networks.

According to Zig, the company is expanding its private hire ecosystem to provide hirers with more options while maintaining Singapore’s largest taxi network of over 7,600 vehicles.

Over 4,000 drivers are currently using the Zig app, and its private hire driver base increased by 28% in 2025.
