In a seed fundraising round headed by Transition VC, agricultural drone startup SUIND has raised Rs 20.5 crore ($2.2 million). IIMA Ventures participated in the round as well.
The development was recently exclusively disclosed by Entrackr.
The additional funding will be utilized to increase its technical staff, strengthen its patented autonomy technology, speed up the development of its autonomous surveillance and infrastructure inspection drone, and scale the commercial deployment of its agriculture drone platform.
SUIND, which was founded in 2020 by Kevin Kleber and Kunal Shrivastava, creates autonomous unmanned aerial systems that rely less on GPS and more on computer vision for navigation. Drones can operate in low-altitude and GPS-denied conditions because to its technology.
The DGCA-certified autonomous spraying drone, Bumblebee, has been commercially used by the startup on plantations and farms. Additionally, it is creating WASP, an autonomous airborne platform for defense, security, surveillance, and industrial monitoring.
SUIND intends to grow Bumblebee’s production and deployment over the course of the next 12 to 24 months while getting WASP ready for commercial launch. Due to government support for drone adoption and the need for precision farming, interest in India’s agricultural drone ecosystem has increased recently. Startups like Marut Drones, Garuda Aerospace, IoTechWorld Avigation, BharatRohan, and Dhaksha Unmanned Systems are competitors of Suind.
