Germany’s travel booking platform Omio raises $10 M for Japan, Southeast Asia expansion

Granite-Integral has made a strategic investment of $10 million in Berlin-based multimodal travel booking platform Omio to boost its presence throughout Southeast Asia and expedite its expansion in Japan.

According to a statement released by Omio on Wednesday, Granite-Integral is a joint venture between Granite Asia in Singapore and Integral Corporation in Japan. The venture aims to invest in both Japanese companies looking to expand internationally and high-growth technology companies expanding into Japan.

Granite-Integral will assist Omio in expanding its regional teams in Japan and at its AI-focused technology base in Singapore, strengthening local alliances, improving its customer offering, and expanding its transport network throughout Southeast Asia and Japan.

Omio, which debuted in Japan earlier in 2026, is experiencing demand from foreign tourists planning trips along the Golden Route as well as other isolated locations including mountainous areas, holy paths, and coastal towns.

Currently, Omio serves over a billion customers annually and provides bookable transportation options in 48 countries. By 2028, the corporation intends to enter more than 70 markets globally, with Southeast Asia and Japan as top priority.

Japan is one of the world’s busiest travel markets, according to Naren Shaam, founder and CEO of Omio, but it is still difficult to arrange trips across many operators and forms of transportation, especially outside of big cities. According to Shaam, the collaboration with Granite-Integral aims to increase Omio’s reach throughout Southeast Asia and speed up linked travel in Japan.

According to CK Choun, Co-Head of Granite-Integral, Omio’s multimodal platform has the technology and transportation network to handle increasingly fragmented travel experiences, and Japan and Southeast Asia represent significant long-term opportunities in global travel due to the region’s growing demand for connected journeys.
