Global student living technology startup House of Student raises $2 M Seed funding
Global student living technology company House of Student has raised $2 million in a seed round through a combination of equity and debt. The round was co-led by Saltwater Sutra and Nirmitsu Inspirational Ventures, with participation from Gautam Verlekar, Glen Fernandes, Richard McCallum, Ali Moosa, and existing investor Unilodgers.
The fresh capital will be used to drive product innovation, expand housing supply, strengthen AI capabilities, and support global expansion, the company said in a press release.
Founded in February last year by Vaibhav Verma, House of Student operates a technology platform for student accommodation across global education destinations. It offers online booking and housing network management, and plans to expand into AI-enabled student support services.
Verma established Unilodgers, which the firm claims was the first student housing marketplace in history, prior to House of Student. The company claims that its initial institutional fundraising round valued Unilodgers at $109 million.
The US and Gurugram-based firm claims to have more than 2.5 million verified student rooms in more than 25 countries, including the US, UK, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Singapore, the UAE, and eighteen European nations.
Uhomes, Amber, and Uniplaces are competitors of House of Student.
