Health startup Mito Health raised $1.3 M in oversubscribed Pre-seed funding round

The AI-powered health startup Mito Health, based in Singapore, has raised SGD$1.7 million ($1.27 million) in a pre-seed funding round that was oversubscribed. Its goal is to transform preventative care.

According to a statement released by Mito Health, Forge Ventures led the round, which also included prominent angel investors like the founders and executives of ShopBack, Carousell, PatSnap, Glints, SingLife, Rainforest, and OhMyHome.

The pre-seed funding, according to the statement, will be used for product development and hiring.

The startup has started seeing early customers for its product offering and has a waitlist that is actively growing in Singapore.

With plans to regionally expand into other developed markets, Mito Health’s initial focus is on catering to the Singaporean executive market.

Through the use of digital coaching in the areas of diet, exercise, supplements, and sleep, the company leads users through stringent optimization cycles throughout their member experience.

Tee-Ming Chew and Kenneth Lou, who co-founded Seedly and left after seven years, Joel Kek, who has previously led engineering teams from zero to one, including TraceTogether at GovTech, and Dr. Ryan Ware, a former surgeon and resident, are the co-founders of Mito Health.

Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Ryan believes that “Personalized, preventative strategies are key to extending lifespan while preserving physical and cognitive quality of life, and AI will pave the way to widespread accessibility of bespoke care”.

CTO Joel Kek shared “Imagine having an always-accessible medical team that understands you well, helping you to improve health and performance. This currently exists for athletes and the ultrawealthy. Mito Health makes this accessible by combining deep medical expertise with advanced AI models”.

Based on a customer’s diagnostic results and wearable data, Mito Health uses AI to supplement medical expertise to develop personalized health plans with a key focus on extending a person’s healthspan—the number of years they can spend healthy and disease- and disability-free.

It aims to serve the population of health-conscious people who are searching for methods to maintain their health outside of yearly checkups and supplements.
