Hedera Africa Hackathon offers $1 M cash prize for scalable solutions

Applications are now being accepted for the most recent Hedera Africa Hackathon, which asks participants to create scalable solutions based on distributed ledger and blockchain technology that address Africa’s most pressing issues.
Supported by the Exponential Science Foundation, a non-profit organization that accelerates responsible tech adoption through research, education, and innovation activities, and the Hashgraph Association, a Swiss non-profit organization that funds innovation, training, certification, and venture building programs to drive global adoption of Hedera-powered solutions, the Hedera Africa Hackathon 2025 seeks to empower the next generation of developers and promote economic inclusion in Africa with a digital future for all.
With the goal of drawing over 10,000 participants from more than 15 African nations, the Web3 hackathon initiative blends online participation with live events in more than 20 African cities. With a prize pool of over US$1 million up for grabs, developers, students, and entrepreneurs are encouraged to work together to create decentralized solutions on Hedera that span industries like manufacturing, finance, healthcare, telecoms, sustainability, agriculture, and manufacturing. They can also take advantage of the convergence of other deep technologies like artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), robotics, and quantum computing.
Applications are open here until September 30.
