India-based Fitbee, a nutrition and fitness Startup helped 10k women cope with PCOS
Fitbee, a firm that specialises in fitness and nutrition programmes for women, revealed that they have helped over 10,000 women cope with PCOS, PCOD, and Hypothyroidism in the most effective and efficient way possible.
PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) is a condition caused by changes in one’s lifestyle that result in an increase in androgens, or male hormones.
Prathima Koppolu and her husband Avinash Rajapet founded the firm in 2017 with the goal of helping women take a more organised and informed approach to health and fitness. The firm provides exercise and nutrition programmes aimed at enhancing women’s physical and emotional health. Fitbee now offers six services, ranging from acclimating the body to a workout routine to assisting people with PCOS. There are curated fitness videos, tailored food charts, and consultations with nutritionists, trainers, and gynecologists included in these packages. The firm has also embraced a digital-first strategy, sharing advice and short content with its 70,000 Instagram followers.
Speaking on PCOS awareness month, Prathima Koppolu, CEO and Co-Founder of Fitbee, says, “It is so important to have a month dedicated to hormonal health conditions because there is so much awareness building that needs to happen. The treatment of PCOS is unique to each woman; therefore, we create customized fitness and nutrition programs that are efficient, educative, and fun. It is also crafted to suit the Indian palate and body functionalities, therefore making the program accessible and easy to follow.”
“PCOS is a prevalent health condition in India affecting young women with more than half of them being unaware of it. The cause for these increasing numbers is unhealthy eating habits, combined with long and stressful work hours and lack of proper physical activity and adequate sleep. There is a need to create awareness among Indian women regarding these factors and be encouraged to make necessary lifestyle changes. Fitbee is working towards building the right platform and community to help these women take a step in the right direction to lead a healthier and happier life,” says Dr. Havya Polavarapu, Consultant Gynecologist, Sunshine Hospitals, Secunderabad.
PCOS affects about one out of every five women throughout the world, and they frequently suffer in silence owing to a lack of information and safe venues to have the necessary talks. Fitbee Hive, a secure and active online community for women, was developed by Fitbee to assist women to voice their issues and feel heard. The Hive, which began operations earlier this year, already has 800 members who actively interact, share information, and seek assistance. The website provides women with exclusive access to shared experiences and tales about their journeys to better health.
