Inspection drone startup secured $1.5 M from Liu Xiaosong

Quantified Energy Labs (QE Labs), located in Singapore, received US $1.5 million in angel capital from Liu Xiaosong, the co-founder of Chinese internet giant Tencent. QE Labs employs drones to help with solar farm management and maintenance.

Liu founded Qingsong Fund, a venture capital business, and the Hong Kong-listed A8 New Media Group.

QE Labs aims to solve the market’s lack of reliable monitoring and defect detection tools for sizable solar PV farms. The business created its unique autonomous drone electroluminescence (EL) mapping technology to do this.

The company’s drones can detect internal flaws quickly and effectively by integrating EL testing tools with drone technology. Currently available drone systems, however, can only detect surface problems through visual or thermographic assessment.

The startup, which currently provides its services in the US and Singapore, will utilize the additional funding to enhance its capabilities and broaden its reach into other important regions including Europe and Australia.
