Last Mile Innovation Nexus event announced three startups as winners
At the recent Last Mile Innovation Nexus event in Johannesburg, where businesses had the opportunity to network with and pitch to over 100 supply chain leaders, three startups were named winners.
The event, which is being hosted by FarEye in partnership with Microsoft, offers South African logistics startups a special opportunity to network with prominent businesses like Woolworths, Pick N Pay, Massmart, Homechoice, Clicks Group, Media24, and more.
Ntsako Mgiba from The Delta, Gautam Kumar from FarEye Technologies, Merlin Otto from Massmart, and Vuyo Angoma-Mzini from Launch Africa Ventures were among the judges who assessed startup pitches and offered suggestions on how the companies could expand their offerings.
Three new businesses emerged victorious. Solarbox was declared the overall winner, earning ZAR100,000 (US $6,000) in cash. SHIMI and ABEOD placed second and third, respectively.
“South Africa is a key market with immense potential for disruptive logistics solutions. With the rapid growth of e-commerce and the entry of global players like Amazon, Shein, and Walmart, the need for scalable, efficient last-mile delivery systems is more urgent than ever. This initiative is designed to equip South African startups with the tools they need to thrive in this dynamic environment,” FarEye’s co-founder and CEO Kushal Nahata said.
