Latest $113K develoPPP Ventures program open to Kenyan startups

For cohort nine of the develoPPP Ventures program, which offers EUR100,000 (US$113,000) in non-dilutive funding along with specialized technical support to help startups grow sustainably and effectively, Kenyan startups with creative, impact-driven solutions are encouraged to apply.

The German Federal Development Ministry (BMZ) launched develoPPP Ventures, an entrepreneurial support program that offers EUR100,000 (US$113,000) in grant financing to startups that have completed a proof of concept and are prepared to scale through a matching-funds model with DEG – Deutsche Investitions- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH.

DEG Impulse is the leader of develoPPP Ventures in Kenya, which supports creative post-revenue startups that have a positive social, economic, or environmental impact on regional development. VC4A and Viktoria Ventures assist with implementation.

“Since we began implementing the programme, we’ve seen that startups need more than just capital, they need structure, guidance, and the right connections,” said Stephen Gugu, founder of Viktoria Ventures. “That’s what develoPPP Ventures delivers: a blend of funding and hands-on support that helps high-potential founders scale effectively.”

Startups must be operating and legally registered in Kenya in order to qualify. They must be able to clearly impact development, generate income, and be scalable. Candidates must also obtain matching funds from outside investors in order to be eligible for the program.

You can apply through June 30.
