Nigerian defence-tech company Terra Industries raises $18 M in strategic capital
In order to close its seed round at US $52 million, Nigeria’s Terra Industries, a defense technology firm that develops autonomous security systems to safeguard vital infrastructure throughout the Global South, has raised an extra US $18 million in strategic capital.
Terra Industries, which was founded in 2024 by Nathan Nwachuku and Maxwell Maduka and has its headquarters in Abuja, creates and implements multi-domain defense systems that cover the air, land, and eventually the sea in order to monitor, detect, and respond to threats like terrorism, sabotage, and armed attacks on vital assets.
The US venture capital firm 8VC, which was formed by Palantir co-founder Joe Lonsdale, led the company’s US $11.75 million investment round, according to media reports in January. After that, it added a further US $22 million in February, and as of right now, it has collected an additional US $18 million, bringing the total amount of its seed round to US$52 million.
Along with new investment Norleo Space Investments and angel investor Grant Gordon, current investors 8VC, Silent Ventures, Nova Global, Belief Capital, and SV Angel took part. The money will be used by Terra to improve its engineering, operations, and business development teams, increase production capacity, speed up deployments throughout the Global South, and establish its first overseas office in London.
“Critical infrastructure across the Global South is best protected by systems designed for these environments and built in the regions they protect. This funding lets us scale that work and deepen our manufacturing base. It also puts us in the rooms where global defense decisions are made,” said Nathan Nwachuku, co-founder and CEO of Terra Industries.
While manufacturing is still in Africa, with plans to expand throughout the Gulf, South America, and South Asia, Terra’s London headquarters provides direct access to organizations that influence global defense and infrastructure industries, as well as world-class operations and AI talent.
