NuSynth raises Rs 36.5 Cr Seed funding from Avaana Capital, Shastra VC

Bengaluru-based chemical process innovation startup NuSynth Technologies has raised Rs 36.5 crore (approximately $4 million) in a seed funding round jointly led by Avaana Capital and Shastra VC.
The company is building a technology platform to rework chemical synthesis processes by assessing raw materials, reaction routes and process economics.
Its platform combines predictive synthesis models with an AI engine that analyses experimental data to guide subsequent research. It aims to identify alternative chemical synthesis methods that can improve cost efficiency, yield, safety, sustainability and scalability.
NuSynth is initially targeting the pharmaceutical and electronics chemicals industries, with plans to develop proprietary chemical processes for commercial use across multiple chemistry-driven sectors.
The newly raised funds will be directed towards strengthening its R&D and technology infrastructure, developing an initial pipeline of proprietary processes, enhancing scale-up capabilities and expanding its workforce.
NuSynth was established by Poorvank Purohit, former managing director and CEO of Solara Active Pharma Sciences, alongside Dr Ramesha A R, a postdoctoral researcher at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Washington. The founding team also includes Abhishek Deo and Dipak Bajaj, who bring experience from companies such as Zetwerk, Mstack, Ola, JPMorgan, BlackBuck and SUN Mobility.
According to the company, its platform aims to shorten chemical research and development timelines by leveraging insights from earlier experiments to inform future research cycles.
