Ofiniti to acquire ZeroNorth’s eBDN business in Singapore expansion

Maritime technology company Ofiniti has reached an agreement to acquire ZeroNorth’s electronic bunker delivery note (eBDN) business, including Singapore-based BTS Pte. Ltd., as it seeks to strengthen its digital bunkering operations in the world’s largest marine-fuel hub.
Following the completion of the transaction, ZeroNorth’s eBDN technology and customer base will be integrated into Ofiniti’s Bunker Operating System. The companies have not disclosed the financial terms or expected closing date.
Singapore at the centre of the deal
BTS serves as the Singapore-based legal entity and licence holder for the eBDN solution. Ofiniti said the acquisition is part of a multimillion-dollar investment in Singapore and will reinforce its presence in a market that has increasingly adopted digital documentation for bunker transactions.
eBDNs digitise the paper documents traditionally used to record marine-fuel deliveries. In Singapore, their adoption forms part of a wider push to digitalise bunker transactions while improving compliance and access to operational data.
Ofiniti currently works with around 200 customers and has handled more than 50,000 bunker operations, according to figures provided by the company. Smart Maritime Network reported that Ofiniti estimates its share of Singapore’s digital bunkering market at approximately 40%. These customer, transaction and market-share figures are based on company estimates.
Third acquisition since DNV spinout
The transaction marks Ofiniti’s third acquisition since the company became independent following its spinout from DNV in 2024. Its previous deals included the acquisitions of Angsana Technology and Teqplay.
Ofiniti is pursuing a strategy of bringing bunker scheduling, delivery documentation, operational workflows and related data together within a single Bunker Operating System. The approach is intended to replace fragmented processes spread across multiple software products.
By taking on ZeroNorth’s eBDN customers, Ofiniti will expand its existing customer base while strengthening its role in the documentation side of marine-fuel transactions.
ZeroNorth sharpens its bunkering strategy
For ZeroNorth, the divestment reflects a decision to concentrate its bunkering activities on procurement, pricing and planning instead of electronic delivery-note technology.
The company has also been working to link fuel purchasing decisions more closely with voyage efficiency, emissions and vessel operations. ZeroNorth said it intends to expand the use of agentic AI across workflows related to voyages.
The transaction highlights two distinct directions within maritime software consolidation. Ofiniti is building around the operational processes involved in bunker delivery and documentation, while ZeroNorth is placing greater emphasis on planning and optimisation associated with fuel purchasing.
The deal is particularly relevant to Singapore as the port continues its wider transition towards digital bunkering. The extent of the benefits will depend on how smoothly customers are migrated, the quality of system integration and whether consolidating the functions onto a common platform can reduce repeated data entry and reconciliation between fuel suppliers, surveyors, vessel operators and buyers.
