Personal health coaching platform Sirka raised AC Ventures, Wavemaker led US $2.6 M

Sirka, a digital personal health coaching platform, has closed a seed financing round headed by AC Ventures and Wavemaker Group for $2.6 million.

Sequoia Capital India, Y Combinator, Goodwater Capital, Tim Lee (ex-Sequoia), and singer/entrepreneur Maudy Ayunda were among those who took part in the event.

Sirka intends to use the funds to expand its platform’s features and capabilities, as well as work with medical consultants, food and beverage, supply, and drug suppliers.

Sirka was founded by Rifanditto Adhikara and Dito Krista in 2021 with the goal of making evidence-based weight loss accessible and inexpensive to everyone. The company develops patented lifestyle programmes with the help of health experts to target weight reduction and related pre-chronic conditions.

The company claims that its approach has assisted over 1,000 people in preventing or managing chronic illnesses.

“We believe in the power of technology, science, information, and human empathy to simplify the journey. That’s why we created a low-cost approach to help people understand and optimise their health through at-home assessment, personalised action plans, and ongoing progress monitoring, starting with weight care,” said CEO Adhikara.

According to the Food and Nutrition Journal, one out of every three persons in Indonesia is obese, which is higher than the global obesity prevalence of 13%. Adult obesity rates in Indonesia have quadrupled in the last two decades, and the nation now ranks fourth in Southeast Asia in terms of obesity prevalence.

Obesity rates are fast rising in Indonesian homes, both affluent and poor, as people migrate away from traditional diets and toward processed meals, which are frequently richer in fat and sugar and less expensive than nutritious foods. When combined with the increased availability of processed foods, Indonesia’s obese population is likely to continue to rise, posing a serious national health threat.
