PoS platform Mira acquired by Nigerian on-demand delivery startup Chowdeck

In order to expand its capabilities beyond delivery and establish itself as a comprehensive technology partner for food businesses throughout the continent, Chowdeck, a Nigerian on-demand delivery platform, has acquired Mira, a rapidly expanding provider of contemporary point-of-sale (PoS) solutions designed for the food and hospitality industry.

Chowdeck, which was introduced in October 2021, enables users to order food from a range of restaurants and have it delivered to their home in as little as 30 minutes.

Chowdeck, which received US$2.5 million in seed funding earlier this year and is a 2022 Y Combinator accelerator participant, has more than 1.5 million users and 20,000 riders, and it serves 11 cities in Nigeria.

More than 500 hospitality companies currently use Mira, an all-in-one platform, to handle everything from sales and inventory to kitchen efficiency and customer interaction—all through a single, user-friendly interface.

As a result of this acquisition, Chowdeck will be able to take advantage of Mira’s outstanding product development skills to generate ideas and provide innovative technological solutions that will boost expansion and enhance customer satisfaction.

Ted Oladele, the CEO of Mira, will become Chowdeck’s head of product as part of the acquisition. In order to develop new solutions for food and hospitality enterprises throughout the continent, Chowdeck will also bring on additional carefully chosen team members.

“We are thrilled to welcome Mira to the Chowdeck family. I’ve admired their work for a long time, and I’m excited about what we can build together. The Mira team brings deep experience in solving operational challenges for food and hospitality businesses, and their expertise will be instrumental as we continue to evolve our platform and empower our partners to succeed,” said Femi Aluko, CEO and co-founder of Chowdeck.
