Proactive AI startup Sol raises $4 M from General Catalyst, Nexus VP, and others

Proactive AI startup Sol has exited stealth mode after raising $4 million in funding from a round led by General Catalyst and Nexus Venture Partners. DeVC, Peercheque and Kunal Shah also participated in the round.

The company plans to deploy the capital towards research and development as well as go-to-market efforts. Its R&D investments will cover LLM processing and tooling expenses, hiring and customer work across different geographies.

Sol was founded in August 2025 by Anish Karan, Prateek Srivastava and Ranjith Nair. The startup is developing an AI assistant that detects commitments made through emails and takes the necessary steps to complete them, while leaving users with control over the final action.

Its capabilities include conducting research, preparing documents and presentations, scheduling meetings and drafting email responses. For example, an email commitment to share an analysis can prompt Sol to conduct the research and prepare the document, while a request to coordinate with another person can result in a meeting being scheduled.

The startup is targeting professionals who deal with high volumes of email, including founders, executives and employees in sales, marketing, consulting, recruitment and agencies. Rather than requiring users to manually convert emails into tasks or repeatedly instruct an AI assistant, Sol identifies the commitment and the surrounding context directly from the email.

Sol works within a dedicated computer environment and can access a browser to perform tasks across different tools. Its current system includes a library of more than 100 skills designed to handle different types of commitments. However, users retain approval over actions before anything is sent, scheduled or shared.

India’s agentic AI sector raised approximately $60 million during the first 4.5 months of 2026, compared with $144 million raised throughout 2025.

Other startups operating in the space include Composio, which secured $24 million in Series A funding to enable AI agents to execute workflows across software applications, and Kapture, which raised $10 million in a pre-Series B round to develop its enterprise agentic operating system.
