Professional networking platform Medial ceases operations

In a LinkedIn post, Niket Raj Dwivedi, the founder and CEO of Bengaluru-based professional networking site Medial, announced the company’s closure.

“Our aim with Medial was to create a home for the startup ecosystem on the internet that could help founders, employees, and investors, while bridging the gap in access and information between Tier I and Tier II and III cities. Geography shouldn’t ever be a limitation,” Dwivedi said.

Medial, a content and community-driven platform centered on the tech and startup environment, was founded by Niket Raj Dwivedi, Aishwarya Raj Pandey, Prateek Kaien, and Harsh Dwivedi. The site offered both real identity and anonymous participation for startup news, industry updates, career talks, and workplace interactions.

In December 2024, Ortella Global Capital (OG Capital) led a $500,000 investment round for the firm. Additionally, Shark Tank India featured it.

Medial claimed to have over 500,000 users in 30 different countries. Additionally, it provided a premium subscription that included access to databases of accelerators and incubators, startup employment, VC and grant trackers, and special content.

With competitors including Grapevine, Hood, Fishbowl, Blind, and Reddit, the platform marketed itself as a professional social network. It has previously reported a sixfold rise in user engagement and a 10X increase in users during a one-year period.
