Renowned VN tech alumni’s farming startup Koina raised US $1 M
Koina’s co-founder and COO, Khoa Luu, calls the local agricultural supply chain in Vietnam “forgotten”.
Luu founded Koina in 2021 with the help of a number of former executives from well-known digital firms including Grab, VinID, and SCommerce. Vina Capital Ventures, the technology investment arm of VinaCapital Group, has just invested US$1 million in the firm.
Similar to DeHaat’s full-stack concept in India, Koina aspires to create an agricultural ecosystem in Vietnam that is supported by technology.
This entails establishing direct contact between merchants, financial institutions, and input suppliers, and farmers. Consumers and domestic enterprises can simultaneously get direct access to farmers’ products.
Thi Nguyen, Koina’s co-founder, and chairman said in a statement that the fresh capital will be used to grow the startup’s sales channels and make technology investments in order to take on greater volume from farmers.
The most recent round of funding for Koina came from Singapore’s Glife Technologies in an undisclosed amount.
