Singapore’s AI facilitator Ropedia raises $22 M Pre-Series A funding for physical AI data infrastructure

Ropedia, a data infrastructure startup for robotics and physical AI based in Singapore, has raised $22 million in a Pre-Series A round, increasing its total funding to $30 million.
Ropedia stated in a statement on Thursday that the round was headed by unidentified Southeast Asian venture investors with expertise in deep technology, artificial intelligence, and infrastructure. Investors and super angels with ties to Google, a16z, NVIDIA, and Amazon participated in a prior raise.
The money raised will be used by Ropedia to develop its teams in Singapore and the US, increase production of wearable capturing devices, and extend global data collection into Southeast Asia and North America. Along with expanding AI research into data foundation models and world models, the company intends to develop its data platform with annotation tooling, quality analytics, and compliance infrastructure.
The entire data pipeline for physical AI is covered by Ropedia’s platform, from gathering multimodal human experience data to providing processed datasets. The business records egocentric video, depth, motion, and audio using proprietary wearable technology, which is then synchronized and processed via its platform.
According to Ropedia, its wearable capturing device has gone into mass production and its technology reduces data collecting expenses by up to 50 times when compared to previous approaches. Currently, Ropedia provides services to over 20 robotics and foundation model companies in Singapore, China, and North America.
According to Zhaoxi Chen, CEO and co-founder of Ropedia, the company’s technology enables robots to go beyond testing into actual deployment in homes and factories by giving them the experiential data necessary to comprehend physical interaction and time.
