A series A+ fundraising round led by Premier, 500 TukTuks, and the Thai government’s Digital Economy Promotion Agency netted Globish, an edtech business located in Thailand, US $2.5 million.

In 2014, Takarn Ananthothai and Chuencheewan Wongsaeree founded Globish, which offers online, one-on-one foreign language lessons for students and professionals, offering courses in English and Chinese. It is now active in Vietnam and Thailand.

The business hosts more than 300,000 lessons annually and employs 400 teachers. By the end of the year, it hopes to have taught 500,000 lessons, and it plans to hire 600 additional instructors soon after that.

According to a statement from Globish, the majority of its clients are workers looking to further their careers. The remainder is students. Additionally, it expects to generate $35 million in sales by 2025.

The company intends to use the new investment to enter other areas, such as Bangladesh and Pakistan.
