$1.2 M pre-seed funding raised by Egyptian legal ed-tech startup Kouncel
Kouncel, an Egyptian legal ed-tech firm, has acquired $1.2 million in pre-seed capital to help it expand.
Kouncel, an online video education platform for attorneys founded this year by Ibrahim Saleh, offers classes on topics such as arbitration, legal drafting, and intellectual property depending on different jurisdictions.
Zaldi Capital, the African Development Bank (AfDB), the Academy for Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT), and Egyptian entrepreneurship development project Tanmia wa Tatweer all participated in the funding round, which will be used to help the startup reach more users in Egypt and across the MENA region.
The money raised will be split between cash and in-kind services, with $280,000 going to cash and the rest going to in-kind services.
“Education forms a key part of Egyptian Economic Vision 2030, and law plays an important role in creating a healthy environment for businesses and pushes FDIs forward. and we aim to provide a highly sophisticated education experience to everyone in the legal field which will positively impact the ecosystem,” said Saleh.
