$10 M seed funding initiative ‘Origami’ launched by 8i Ventures

The early-stage founder support program “Origami,” a seed funding initiative, has been launched by venture capital firm 8i Ventures.

8i Ventures prioritizes “speed” as its defining characteristic and uses this seed program to target companies in the pre-seed to early revenue stage. The new program, according to the fund, will guarantee a streamlined procedure with a term sheet in two weeks, a response in just one week, and deal closure in just four weeks, enabling founders to raise money without interruptions or delays.

Dedicated to fostering the next generation of business leaders, the company was founded in 2019 by Vikram Chachra and Vishwanath V. To accelerate startup growth across industries, 8i Ventures invests $250K to $2 million in pre-seed to early revenue phase startups.

Among others, 8i Ventures was an early investor in Slice, M2P, Easebuzz, Transbnk, BharatX, and Blue Tokai.

This year, the firm plans to invest in 8–10 startups, according to Vikram Chachra. If the initiative is well received, the firm may increase its allocation to $20 million.

8i Ventures announced the first close of its $50 million second fund by raising $25 million in November 2022, during the funding winter. The company has set aside $10 million from Fund II to begin this project.
