$100 M crypto fund launched by Ex-Binance execs for emerging markets

According to TechCrunch, Old Fashion Research (OFR), a venture capital firm founded by ex-executives of cryptocurrency exchange Binance, has announced a $100 million fund.

The fund intends to increase bitcoin acceptance in countries such as Africa and Latin America.

OFR has invested in 50 blockchain businesses, including Genopets, an NFT game, and Nansen, a blockchain analytics firm. It has also invested in Metaverse Magna, one of Africa’s largest gaming communities.

OFR was founded in 2021 by Ling Zhang and Wayne Fu. Fu was the head of corporate development at Binance while Zhang was vice president of mergers and acquisitions.

“We are very Southern Hemisphere-focused,” Zhang told as per reports. “We’ll go after all the emerging markets, but it’s our goal and vision to accelerate adoption there.”
