13th Orange Social Venture Prize in Africa and Middle East now accepting applications
The 13th Orange Social Venture Award in Africa and the Middle East, which aims to reward social and environmental innovation and promote entrepreneurship, is now accepting applications.
The prize has been given out since 2011 to creative projects by startups that use information and communication technologies and have a positive social impact in Africa and the Middle East in the areas of education, healthcare, e-commerce, and agriculture, or that help to advance sustainable development objectives.
Three winners in each market will advance to the competition’s second round after a national stage to gather applications is held in Orange’s 17 subsidiaries in Africa and the Middle East. All of these businesses will be assessed for the global stage, where 10 finalists will be chosen. Three winners will be chosen by a final committee of African tech influencers in October/November 2023.
For first place, these victors will get EUR25,000 (US $27,000), second place will receive EUR15,000 (US $16,000), and third place will receive EUR10,000 (US $11,000).
The fourth year running, the International Women’s Prize will be presented. The winner of this competition, worth EUR20,000 (US $21,000), will be a woman who presents a technical solution to better the lives of women.
Applications are open until May 21.
