20% of staff laid off by Indonesian edtech Binar Academy
Due to the “uncertain global economy,” Binar Academy, an edtech company with offices in Indonesia, has let go 20% of its workers.
The business said in a statement that it will provide the appropriate compensation in accordance with local laws to the impacted employees. Employees will receive career advice from the company’s management as well.
Alamanda Shantika, CEO of Binar, said the company intends to enhance its core business, streamline operations, and maximize investment efforts.
Together with other Gojek alums Seto Lareno and Dita Aisyah, Shantika established the company in 2017. The learning opportunities provided by Binar include workshops, staff training, and bootcamps. Through its Job Connect function, it also connects Bootcamp attendees with businesses.
According to Binar, its income increased by twofold over the prior year in 2021. In a pre-series A fundraising round that was jointly led by Teja Ventures and iGlobe Partners, it raised an undisclosed sum.
