In India, Eight Roads Ventures has announced a $250 million fund committed to investing in life sciences and healthcare services firms.

The fund would invest in early to growth-stage enterprises, with an aim of 15 to 20 investments ranging from modest to large agreements worth up to $40 million.

Eight Roads’ focus on healthcare and technology will be continued with the new investment entity. It presently has 25 firms in the health and life sciences industries in its portfolio.

With the addition of this fund, Eight Roads now has $1.6 billion in assets under management in India.

Eight Roads began its India franchise in 2007, backed by American global financial organization Fidelity Investments. It has now invested in over 60 firms, beginning with a healthcare venture in India in 2011.

The creation of the new healthcare fund underscores Eight Roads’ trust in the Indian market’s progress and commitment to assisting ambitious creators scale, according to Daniel Auerbach, senior managing partner and head of global ventures.
