76 startups to receive funding to focus on Water Management

Under the “India Water Pitch-Pilot-Scale Start-Up Challenge,” 76 start-ups have been accepted, and they will each get financial support of up to Rs 20 lakh to operate in the domains of water delivery, used water management, and water body regeneration.

In a statement released on Friday, the Union Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry (HUA) stated that the companies were chosen through a challenging process that was initiated in March 2022 as part of the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation Mission (2.0).

According to the statement, a “Startup Gateway” has also been established, via which firms may request financial help and be shortlisted by the ministry.

“The shortlisted start-ups will be provided financial support of up to Rs 20 lakh each to work in the fields of water supply, used water management, water body rejuvenation and groundwater management etc,” the statement quoted HUA minister Hardeep Singh Puri as saying at an event.

According to the statement, the ministry also unveiled a toolkit for “Pey Jal Survekshan” in 485 cities.

Under the Jal Jeevan Mission, Pey Jal Survekshan would evaluate cities in terms of the quality of water and how it is delivered to residents, as well as sewage, septage management, grievance redressal, water body conservation, and groundwater management, among other things.
