Niveshaay led Rs 75 Cr Series A funding raised by fashion brand Theater

Theater, a fashion brand driven by design, has raised Rs 75 crore in its Series A fundraising round, with a post-money valuation of Rs 410 crore. Physis Capital, a new investor, and Prath Ventures, an existing investor, participated in the round, which was led by Niveshaay.

A day ago, the development was exclusively reported by Entrackr.

In September 2024, the Mumbai-based business raised $1.5 million in a pre-Series A investment headed by Prath Ventures.

Theater stated in a press release that the additional funds will be utilized to build a physical retail presence in Tier 1 and Tier 2 locations and expedite its offline expansion.

Theater is a design-driven, mass-premium western fashion business that was founded in 2021 by Sarthak Aggarwal, Vikram Jain, Karan Jain, and Shruti Aggarwal. It sells bags, stockings, shoes, and perfumes. The company wants to create a fashion brand that is driven by design and combines unique style with affordable prices.

Theater places itself between mass-market essentials and imported luxury. Due to a rising customer base and an emphasis on profitability, the company claimed to have scaled eight times during the previous two years.

The business will increase brand-building efforts, such as celebrity collaborations and marketing activations, as part of its expansion goals. As it increases its offline presence, it also intends to launch new marketing and retail projects.

Theater competes with companies like Snitch, which raised Rs 278.9 crore in a Series B round; The Bear House, which raised Rs 50 crore in Series A funding; MyDesignation, which raised Rs 40 crore in Series A; Miraggio, which raised $6.5 million in Series A; and Alaya by Stage3, which raised a seed round to scale its ethnic-wear business and AI capabilities. Theater operates in a growing segment of India’s design-led fashion market.
