Applications now accepted for SAB Foundation’s annual social innovation awards

Applications are now open for the SAB Foundation’s 13th annual Social Innovation Awards and 8th annual Disability Empowerment Awards, which include cash awards of between ZAR200,000 (US $11,000) and ZAR1.3 million (US $71,000).

The prizes are intended to assist South African businesspeople and nonprofit organisations who are working to address issues affecting youth, women, and rural residents who are low-income while also developing a viable business model.

The Disability Empowerment Awards honour entrepreneurs or social enterprises that have developed an innovation that improves access to the economy or offers solutions for people with disabilities while generating enough revenue to become sustainable over time. The Social Innovation Awards are open to innovators, entrepreneurs, institutions, and social enterprises with prototypes or early-stage businesses that can solve social issues in South Africa.

Each prize recipient will also receive coaching, mentoring, and technical assistance for the development of their business abilities in addition to the grant money. The deadline for applications is March 27.
