EV startup Raptee received grants from ARAI amounting Rs 3.27 Cr

The Automotive Research Association of India has awarded a grant of Rs 3.27 crore to electric motorcycle startup Raptee (ARAI). Advance Mobility Transformation and Innovation Foundation received the grant (AMTIF)

The ten startups and MSMEs who will receive this grant from ARAI include Raptee.

In a press release, Raptee stated that the company intends to use the funds raised to develop the design and the motorcycle’s primary high-voltage motor controller over the next 18 months as it prepares to launch its first motorcycle later this year.

Raptee claims that it is currently in the production phase and anticipates releasing its high-end electric motorcycle later this year. The bike’s features will include Bluetooth connectivity, blind-spot detection, and throttle mapping.

In July 2021, high-net-worth individuals such as Abdul Gaffar from Hyderabad and Sri Kaliswari Metal Powders gave Raptee a $700K donation. The business recently announced that it will scale up to 230 people by the end of this year and about 1,000 in phase 2.

The Government of India has designated ARAI as the testing and certification body that certifies automobiles and their parts, ensuring their dependability, efficiency, and safety. Any car must receive official approval from the ARAI before it can be driven on Indian roads.
