Republic Summit 2023: Transforming India’s future with innovation and entrepreneurship
In the third edition of the Republic Summit, experts from different industries, leaders, and entrepreneurs from various sectors were present to engage in a dialogue about the future of India and its economy. The summit’s theme was, “Time of Transformation,” and it reflected India’s ambitious vision of becoming a global leader in innovation and entrepreneurship.
Arnab Goswami, Editor-In-Chief, Republic Media Network said, “Viewers, it is a matter of immense pride for us to share with you that our Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will be our Chief Guest at this year’s Republic Summit to be held in Delhi on the 25th and 26th of April. Prime Minister Modi will be addressing us on the theme of “Time of Transformation”, the theme of this year’s event. Dear Viewers of Republic, the Prime Minister will be at the Republic Summit, and all of us will eagerly wait to hear his views on the theme of transformation, a theme in line with his vision and determination to make India a developed Nation.”

This power packed event saw prominent speakers back-to-back including business leaders and industry experts. The keynote speakers included Uday Kotak, MD and CEO of Kotak Mahindra Bank, Sridhar Vembu CEO, Zoho Corporation, and leading strategist S Gurumurthy, and touching upon the government of India’s economic development roadmap, was Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
Founder and CEO of Zoho Corporation spoke on ‘how new entrepreneur’s think’? He put emphasis on how we can overcome shortcomings. “India needs to take a giant leap of faith and needs to focus on innovation”, he said and further added that we also need to capitalize on R&D as much as we can because it helps the product or service to grow and keep up with the market requirements.”
Commenting on the Space sector, MoS for Science & Technology Jitendra Singh said, “There was never a dearth of talent in this country but what was lacking was the right kind of milieu which could provide exposure to the talent or which could discover hidden aptitudes. When USA had reached the moon, India was far behind but now we can proudly say, that with innovation and technology it was India that discovered water on the moon.” Highlighting that India always had talent and many things have been possible ever since PM Modi came to power.
TDP Chief Chandrababu Naidu expressed his views on “innovation in technology will spark revolution stated, “after economic reforms immediately technology revolution has come. We started economic reforms in 1991 including infrastructure reforms, and reforms in telecommunication sector. It’s a great time for India as India has a great advantage in terms of technology. We can say technology is India’s USP.
Anil Aggarwal, founder and chairman, Vedanta Resources Ltd spoke about his journey and how he started off in the UK. He also shared as to how in several countries it is the Indians who are making the important decisions in various sectors. He added, “If others can do it, why can’t I. I did not know anyone but I had my wife’s support. There is nothing Indians can’t achieve.”
The speakers discussed a range of topics related to India’s economic growth and the potential India has in the startup ecosystem. With 50,000 plus startups, India has emerged as a leading destination for innovation and entrepreneurship. The speakers pressed on the importance and need for government support and policies that enable the growth of startups and entrepreneurship
The Summit also discussed the impact of emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, digitalization and blockchain, on India’s economy. Speakers also highlighted the need for India to adapt these technologies and develop the necessary skills and infrastructure to capitalize on their potential.
Nirmala Sitharam, Finance Minister spoke about how India will become an AI HUB, she said “We made an announcement in the budget that three centres of excellence will be created in institutions which are already very pioneering so that India becomes an AI hub. You can use newer tools with which life can be made better, production can be facilitated less monotonously and effortlessly you can make the economy transparent.”
The Republic Summit provided a platform for leaders and experts to come together and discuss the future of India’s economy, and how India has taken long strides on the path to economic development and transformation, along with the aims and objectives of the future journey of change and growth.
