Open Campus Accelerator to fund 100 education start-ups for Open Campus ecosystem, launched 10 M fund
Open Campus announced on Monday that Open Campus Alliance, an ecosystem of educational companies that have committed to adopt the EDU token and Open Campus products and initiatives, will connect potentially millions of learners from Open Campus’ network of partners to Web3 education through Open Campus ID, its decentralized identifier (DID), which will launch on January 23.
In order to expand the range and depth of the educational offerings and learner base within the Open Campus ecosystem, the Open Campus Accelerator (OC-X) will also utilize a $10 million fund to facilitate the onboarding of an additional 100 education start-ups into the Open Campus Alliance and Open Campus ID.
According to an Open Campus statement, the Open Campus Accelerator (OC-X) has already brought several companies, such as Skizaa, EduCup, Collective, Atiom, and Patika.dev, to the Open Campus Alliance. These companies collectively have over 1.8 million learners.
The statement claims that by improving educational experiences and giving students control over their educational data, Open Campus ID will empower students, teachers, and educational institutions worldwide.
An Open Campus ID allows its owner to store their user profile and academic data in a decentralized and self-sovereign manner by providing a unique.edu identifier.
In relation to their learning plans, students can create profiles.edu identifier, which can be used to personalize learning opportunities, suggest pertinent courses or other materials, and enable adaptive learning paths depending on each student’s particular requirements and interests.
In order to enable the issuance of on-chain verifiable credentials in a privacy-preserving manner made possible by the learner profiles linked to each Open Campus ID, the statement states that Open Campus ID will be integrated with the learning systems of participating schools and other educational institutions in the Open Campus Alliance.
Presently, the EDU token and Open Campus products will be adopted by over thirty education-focused companies that are part of the Open Campus Alliance.
TinyTap, Mocaverse, Hooked, New Campus, GEMS Education, Weeve, Metalympics, CoderSchool, Blockchain Center, Bondex, Edu3Labs, and BitDegree are among the organizations that make up the Open Campus Alliance.
By incorporating Open Campus ID into the platforms of companies taking part in the Open Campus Alliance, Open Campus hopes to onboard millions of users to Open Campus ID, enabling the decentralized, self-sovereign recording of educational data.
