Scale Iraq initiative launched by IFC, IVP to support Iraqi startups
To address the difficulties faced by Iraqi entrepreneurs, the International Finance Corporation (IFC), Iraq Venture Partners (IVP), and Innovest Middle East have launched a new program.
According to an IFC statement, the new program, Scale Iraq, will assist 20 startups by addressing their unique needs and gaps and creating and implementing interventions that are specifically designed to help them raise capital and establish connections with possible investors.
The program is a component of IFC’s larger #ScaleMashreq initiative, which intends to assist more than 150 startups in the Levant region. Under the auspices of the PROSPECTS Partnership, a global initiative implemented in collaboration with the Dutch government, ScaleMashreq works to enhance the accessibility of education, social protection, and decent work for both host communities and individuals who have been forcibly displaced.
The UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the World Bank, the International Labor Organization (ILO), and the IFC collaborate on PROSPECTS to change how governments and other stakeholders—including the private sector—respond to crises involving forced displacement.
