Africa Tech Summit Nairobi Investment Showcase selected ten startups
Africa Tech Conference The 10 African tech startups that will present their ideas to a group of business leaders, financiers, and fellow creatives on February 14–15 in Nairobi have been revealed.
In order to promote investment and business in African tech, Africa Tech Summit Nairobi brings together tech leaders, MNOs, banks, international investors, entrepreneurs, governments, trade associations, media, and leading ventures. It is a premier African tech event that offers insight and networking with the regional tech ecosystem.
In February, over 1,000 African and international industry leaders, investors, and startups from across the African tech ecosystem will come together for the sixth edition of the event, which is powered by global account receivable and expense management solution Raenest.
A key component of the Africa Tech Summit is the yearly Investment Showcase, which gives chosen businesses the chance to present their goods and services to a wide range of regional and global investors as well as tech executives.
After receiving more than 250 entries from different African nations, ten startups in the domains of fintech, agri-tech, e-commerce, Web3, and climate-tech were chosen. All of them are trying to raise between US $500,000 and US $15 million in funding.
Kenya accounts for four of the chosen companies: Node Bio, which develops crop treatments that successfully counteract the negative effects of climate change by utilizing state-of-the-art plant science; Peercarbon is a climate fintech startup that uses cutting-edge sustainable finance technology and granular emissions data to empower African small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Tausi App is a beauty tech company that uses technology to connect beauticians with potential customers. URBANET is a global organization that fosters international discourse on development activities.
Four other companies are based in Nigeria: Feegor is a business-to-business e-commerce platform that links small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with major wholesalers and manufacturers; Bingtellar is constructing payment infrastructure for global citizens, including freelancers, remote workers, contractors, and businesses; and Regxta is bringing financial services to underprivileged communities and micro businesses in rural and peri-urban areas throughout Africa.
The other two chosen startups are FutureLink Technologies in Uganda, a digital marketplace that is streamlining payments for financial cooperatives and simplifying financial access for individuals, and Valu in Egypt, the top Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) fintech platform in the Middle East and Africa.
“Amidst the challenging backdrop of decreased funding for African startups in 2023, the resilient spirit of entrepreneurship continues to thrive across the continent, and we are delighted to introduce these 10 pioneering ventures for this edition of the Investment Showcase. Our main objective of the showcase is to spotlight and foster connections for these ventures with both local and global investors. We look forward to welcoming over 1,000 delegates to the summit to catalyse collaborative efforts and propel investments to further fuel innovation and growth throughout the continent,” said Henry Umunnakwe, ecosystems and sales manager of Africa Tech Summit.
