The Global Startup Awards African title to be contested by 56 regional winners
Following their selection as regional winners of the Global Startup Awards competition in the East, North, South, and West African regions, fifty-six African startups, investors, and other ecosystem stakeholders will now compete in a continental final.
The GIIG Africa Fund exclusively uses GSA Africa, the largest independent startup ecosystem competition on the continent, to identify, fund, and grow the most creative companies in Africa that are aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals.
11,949 entries were received overall for the third edition of the competition; these have now been reduced to 56 regional winners from 22 different countries. Each of the four continents—Eastern, North, Southern, and Western Africa—has fourteen.
The startups and other stakeholders in the ecosystem will now participate in a continental competition. The African finalists will be crowned at the GSA Africa Summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, in October.
The GIIG Africa Fund, which is renowned for striking a balance between the commercial success of tech innovation and its social impact, will be available for engagement with regional winners. GIIG guarantees that startups contribute to wider societal benefits by making investments in profitable and socially responsible solutions.
“GIIG’s long-term vision is to create sustainable businesses with a positive impact, fostering innovation driven economies and positioning Africa as a leader in addressing global challenges through innovative solutions,” said Jo Griffiths, co-founder of GIIG and GSA Africa.
“We nurture interconnected communities through trust, expertise, and networks, promoting cross-border collaboration and market access to drive systemic transformation and sustainable development across the continent.”
