Kajiado County launched Kenya’s first eco-village and social innovation hub

Kenya’s first eco-village and social innovation hub is located in Kajiado County. Empower and Serve (Empserve), a nonprofit organization committed to empowering youth and marginalized communities through digital skills and sustainable development, has announced the launch of its new project.

Through the promotion of sustainable practices and community-driven solutions, the project seeks to address the particular challenges faced by the region.

The eco-village wants to be a shining example of sustainable living and environmental preservation. It will include cutting-edge water conservation strategies, sustainable farming practices, and renewable energy options—all aimed at building a replicable model for environmentally conscious living.

The social innovation hub in the eco-village will provide essential services like medical care, education, and training for entrepreneurship. The hub hopes to improve the lives of people living in Kajiado County by encouraging social innovation, especially women who encounter major obstacles in their pursuit of education and work because of cultural norms that are still in place.

“Empserve emphasises the critical importance of community involvement in every phase of this project. We are putting the community at the centre of every phase,” said Samwel Lasiti, the project advisor at Empserve.
