Cherrapunji Craft Gin raised $1.2 M Pre-series A funding

Japanese investors have contributed $1.2 million to Raincheck Earth Co.’s pre-Series A round for Cherrapunji Craft Gin, a startup that produces alcoholic beverages.

AngelList India Syndicate also participated in the round, increasing their prior investments by double. In May 2023, the startup raised money for its seed round.

The money raised will be used to expand Cherrapunji Craft Gin’s distribution and visibility in important markets both domestically and internationally.

Cherrapunji Eastern Craft Gin was established by Mayukh Hazarika and debuted in Cherrapunji, Meghalaya, in 2023. The town in North East India is referred to as the rainiest place on earth and holds the record for the most rainfall in a year. Cherrapunji Gin is made from purified rainwater and North East Indian botanicals.

In 2024, Cherrapunji Gin was chosen as the ‘Gin Bottle of the Year 2024’ by readers and followers of The Gin Guide. The company claims that its bottles are constructed from military-grade stainless steel to reduce the carbon footprint of the gin and guarantee a reusable container.

The company asserts that its flagship product, which has already garnered 13 international awards since its launch, has significantly increased its level of recognition worldwide.
