Upscale AI’s $200 M Series A funding backed by Temasek

A $200 million Series A financing led by Tiger Global, Premji Invest, and Temasek-backed Xora Innovation was announced Wednesday by Upscale AI, Inc., a global provider of artificial intelligence (AI) networking infrastructure.

Maverick Silicon, StepStone Group, Mayfield, Prosperity7 Ventures, Intel Capital, and Qualcomm Ventures also contributed to the funding, according to a statement from Upscale AI.

With this additional investment, the company has now raised over $300 million in total funding.

Upscale AI will deliver the first full-stack, turnkey platform comprising silicon, systems, and software designed to connect the heterogeneous future of AGI with an additional $200 million in funding.

As it enters commercial deployment, the company will use the funding to quickly grow its operations, sales, and engineering teams.

The company’s solutions for hyperscalers and AI infrastructure operators looking for scalable, open networking options are reportedly gaining a lot of early traction.

This year will also see the release of Upscale AI’s networking solutions.

“This investment accelerates our mission to fundamentally re-architect networking for the AI era,

“With a world-class team and strong customer pull, we have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to build the open AI networking platform the industry has been waiting for,” said Barun Kar, Chief Executive Officer of Upscale AI.

Upscale AI’s Executive Chairman, Rajiv Khemani, stated that the company has gained remarkable momentum in a remarkably short period of time.

He went on to say that Upscale AI is in a unique position to assist clients in overcoming the networking limitations of today since the market is requesting open, scalable AI networking solutions.

It should be mentioned that Upscale AI creates a single, synchronized AI engine by combining GPUs, AI accelerators, memory, storage, and networking.

The unified rack is made possible by the specially designed SkyHammer™scale-up solution, which is a fundamental component of Upscale’s AI strategy. It does this by reducing the distance between accelerators, memory, and storage, thereby converting the entire stack into a single, synchronized system.

Open standards and open source technologies, such as ESUN, Ultra Accelerator Link (UAL), Ultra Ethernet (UEC), SONiC, and the Switch Abstraction Interface (SAI), are the foundation of Upscale’s AI platform.

The business actively participates in the Open Compute Project, SONiC Foundation, Ultra Accelerator Link Consortium, and Ultra Ethernet Consortium.

“AI workloads are outpacing the capabilities of traditional networks,

“Upscale AI is rebuilding the entire stack from the ground up and leading the effort to democratize AI networking infrastructure at scale,” said Phil Inagaki, Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer, Xora Innovation.

Networking is at the core of AI’s fundamental transformation of infrastructure, according to Rohit Iragavarapu, Partner at Tiger Global.

“Upscale AI combines deep technical execution with strong industry relationships to build the next generation of AI networking,” he added.

Sandesh Patnam, Managing Partner at Premji Invest, also said as AI systems scale, interconnect efficiency has become a defining driver of performance and economics — not just raw compute.

“What stands out about Upscale AI is not only their purpose-built approach to scale-up networking silicon, but the depth of experience of a team that has successfully built and deployed this class of infrastructure before,

“Their ability to deliver proprietary-grade performance while embracing open standards reflects both strong technical conviction and real-world operating insight,” he added.
