Crucifer Investments leads Pre-seed round for recovery-tech platform Owners ID

Crucifer Investments led a $260K pre-seed funding round for recovery-tech startup Owners ID.

According to a press release from Owners ID, the additional funds will be used for product development, technology advancement, manufacturing scale-up, mobile app enhancements, AI-powered recovery systems, brand expansion, and international market expansion.

Owners ID, a smart recovery technology company founded in November of last year by Jesintha Louis, uses privacy-first QR technology to create a digital identity layer for tangible possessions. It seeks to enable the immediate return of misplaced valuables.

Through clever QR-based recovery products, the Bengaluru-based startup solves the issue of misplaced or lost valuables by enabling finders to instantly connect with owners without disclosing private information or phone numbers. Utilizing widely available technologies like smartphone cameras and QR scanning, the platform is built to function globally without the need for batteries, charging, pricey hardware, or the installation of finder apps.

Products from Owners ID are made for daily use in a variety of categories, such as travel accessories and luggage, wallets and keys, passports and other important documents, electronics and devices, cars and car stickers, pet tags and health ID solutions, personal valuables, and lifestyle items.

Industry estimates indicate that there are approximately 82 million lost-item-related incidents in India each year, compared to over 319 million cases worldwide.

Owners ID is creating what it refers to as a “digital identity layer” for tangible possessions, including people, cars, luggage, electronics, pets, and personal valuables. It is situated at the nexus of smart recovery, digital identity, and consumer safety technology.
