Three Ghanaian startups raise $500K funding from Africa Ecosystem Catalysts Facility

Built, GrowForMe, and SAYeTECH, three Ghanaian entrepreneurs, have raised a total of US$500,000 from the Africa Ecosystem Catalysts Facility, a US$4 million pilot investment program designed to find founders who are frequently passed over by conventional investors.

The Africa Ecosystem Catalysts Facility, run by Village Capital and funded by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) and the Dutch Entrepreneurial Development Bank (FMO), seeks to give early-stage capital to startups in Tanzania, Ghana, and Nigeria that are promoting economic mobility and climate resilience.

Through partnerships with in-market entrepreneur support organizations (ESOs) that assist in identifying strong founder teams, shaping investment pipelines, and providing due diligence advice, the facility operates a locally led investment strategy. Reach for Change and Innovation Spark collaborated with Village Capital in Ghana to mold the investment pipeline and make sure funds are in line with local conditions.

Three Ghanaian firms have received investments totaling US$500,000: SAYeTECH, a producer of smart agricultural gear; GrowForMe, which links farmers with finance and services; and Built Financial Technologies, which assists SMEs in digitizing processes. After supporting Rivia and VDL Fulfillment with a total of US$350,000 back in May, the facility now has US$850,000 invested in Ghana.

When taken as a whole, these investments demonstrate the facility’s emphasis on supporting businesses that break through ecosystem bottlenecks by enhancing financial access, bolstering agricultural value chains, and growing locally created manufacturing solutions—all of which strengthen the groundwork for business expansion in Ghana.

“These startups are building practical, locally grounded solutions to challenges that affect how small businesses and farmers operate every day. What’s notable is that they’re not waiting for the infrastructure to catch up; they’re building it themselves. Getting the right capital behind them is how those solutions scale,” Husein Merchant, investment officer at Village Capital, said.
